FAQs

Yes, Citizens High School is accredited through the MSACESS (Middle States Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools). We are also accredited by DEAC (Distance Education Accrediting Commission). CHS has been accredited for nearly 40 years, making us the one of the oldest accredited DEAC schools.

Yes. While CHS does not guarantee employment or acceptance into a specific college or university, our diploma is nationally accredited and our credits are accepted at most public and private universities. For those students interested in continuing their education at 4-year institutions, we strongly recommend enrollment in our college diploma track. For students interested in entering directly into the workforce, we suggest completing the career diploma track.

Yes, all courses and materials for CHS online are completed online. The only exception to this policy will be in the science courses where hands-on experiments may be conducted using materials found around the home. Also some electives may require specialized equipment, but those items will be listed in the course syllabus for those specific courses.

The CHS online tuition model is simple: $129 per month and you can take up to two courses at one time. There are no hidden fees — just study at your own pace, in your own environment.

Tuition payments will be automatically deducted from your account each month based on the day you enroll. A student who enrolls on the 10th of the month will be automatically charged on the 10th of every month moving forward.

Yes. Our Student Services department will be happy to work with you and set your payment day to what works best for you. Please feel free to give Student Services a call at 866-955-8798.

We’ll accept up to 75% of credits that you’ve previously earned. This can reduce your overall costs for online high school classes.

Yes. For a homeschool student to receive credit for courses completed via home education, our admissions team will need to review your homeschool portfolio.

Our online high school courses are designed to be completed in 16 weeks, with a focus on one lesson per week. By doubling or tripling the amount of lessons you complete each week, you can finish a course in as little as 28 days. As long as you’re focusing on one lesson per week, it is up to you to set the pace that works best for your schedule.

For best performance, you should access your courses with a computer that supports the most recent browser versions. It’s recommended to use a computer five years old or newer with at least 1GB of RAM.

You can also access your courses with the Canvas Student app. The Canvas Student app can be easily downloaded from your App Store. For parents, there is also the Canvas Parent App, which allows parents to track student progress, see their current grades, and communicate with the teacher.

Your CHS teachers are state certified and here to help! You can reach out to your teacher via email, telephone, or text message. On the homepage of each course, your teacher provides their listed phone number. Be prepared to leave a detailed voice message, including your name, course, phone number (including area code), and a brief description of your specific question.

If you fail an exam, your teacher will provide the graded exam detailing areas for continued study and mastery. Your teacher will recommend a phone, email, or online meeting to discuss areas of concern and assist with mastery of the various topics necessary for success. CHS is committed to your success and you’ll be able to retake exams with continued teacher support at no extra cost.

CHS is committed to making sure that our students are prepared to flourish in the college or university of their choice. That’s why CHS Online Diploma Pathway for College Program with its rigorous curriculum and academic support fully prepares students for College and University. Check out our Tradition of Excellence page to see where our grads attend college.

CHS is a private school and funded through tuition paid by the students, unlike public schools, which are funded by state and federal taxes. Our tuition helps ensure access to the best-available technologies, the ongoing development of customized courses, and highly qualified instructors no matter where our students live or from where they choose to study.

Our classes are designed to be completed in 16 weeks, which means you will complete one lesson per week. However, in our self-paced model, if you want to accelerate your pace, it is possible to complete a course in a month. Each of our lessons are engaging and interactive. See for yourself in our course demo.

Grading Scale for CHS courses is as follows:

A = 100% -90%

B = 89% – 80%

C = 79% – 70%

D = 69% – 60%

F = Below 60%

CHS is confident you’ll be satisfied with your choice in education. Should you change your mind, CHS will refund your tuition according to the following refund policy per the requirements set forth by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission.

Our offline courses can be completed from any location in the world, at any time of the day. You pick the setting and time that works for you.
