How CHS Supports Military Families
Oh, The Places You'll Go
Poems on the Challenges of PCS Moves
Military Families know the bittersweet rhythm of packing up and starting over. These short poems offer a voice to transition-honoring the strength, struggle, and resilience found in every PCS move.
"Boxes Again"
We fold our lives in cardboard squares, tape up the joy, the tears, the prayers. New base, new start, same sky, same stars- Still feels like leaving home, by far.
"Little Goodbyes"
Each door we close, a friend we leave, A school, a street, a chance to grieve- We smile and wave, hearts held tight – Packing day steals sleep alright.
"Duty's Call"
We go where orders say we must, Build homes on bases built on trust. But roots don’t grow where time is thin- We start again, we start again.
"The Kid's Room"
New posters hide the holes and cracks, Old dreams unpacked from plastic sacks. He asks if this one’s home for long – I say, “Just long enough to be strong.”
