Nationally Accredited For Nearly 40 Years

CHS is a fully accredited online and textbook-based high school educating students in the United States and Internationally.

We offer flexible education programs for high school students that help each student achieve their dreams and goals. Whether you wish to study for a full high school diploma, individual courses, or credit recovery courses CHS’ extensive curriculum has you covered.

Citizens’ High School (CHS) for nearly 40 years has been helping secondary students achieve their academic potential. In that time, “CHS” has serviced over 22,000 students. We have a diverse student body; hailing from all 50 states and 23 different countries “CHS” is nationally accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency.

CHS' 9th-12th grade curriculum is designed to give each student enrolled in either the general studies or the advanced/academic program of study a solid foundation in the basic academic areas of English, math, science, and social studies. Students interested in a vocational career may select electives in a wide range of business and vocational subjects. Subjects are also available individually for transfer credit to local public or private high schools with independent study programs.

Graduation Requirements

A minimum of eighteen units of credit earned in grades 9-12 must be completed in order to graduate. One unit of credit is granted for the successful completion of two semesters' work or its equivalent.  A maximum of twelve previously completed credits (except physical education, driver's training, religion, chorus, band, or ROTC) approved by CHS may be applied toward the required eighteen units.  An official Citizens' High School grade transcript is therefore not a cumulative academic record and reflects only those credits earned from Citizens' High School.

Credits Required For Graduation:

  • Academic Studies: 4 English, 4 math, 3 science, 3 social studies, 1 Physical Education, 1 Fine Arts, 2 foreign languages, 6 electives.
  • General Studies: 4 English, 4 math, 3 science, 3 social studies, 1 fine arts, 3 electives.

Citizens High School does not rank its students.  Given the diversity of our student body, particularly in terms of where and when students last attended high school, we do not have an accurate comparative basis upon which to establish rank in class.

Citizens' High School has been accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), Washington, D.C. (formerly the National Home Study Council) since January 28, 1984.  The DEAC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency.  If verification of accreditation is required, the DEAC may be reached at 202/234-5100 or at their website: www.deac.org.
