What Will You Learn?

Students can learn any list of skills that they deem most essential in their life. The choice of Certain life skills will be dependent on your life circumstances.

Some key life skill areas are: Communication, decision making, problem solving, public speaking, critical thinking, negotiating, financial, and willingness to learn.

IT Academy

What Will You Learn?

Students will learn the essential elements of information technology systems, including Microsoft, Adobe, Google and others.

From basic to advanced coding skills and computer programming preparing students for industry certifications.

Fun Courses

What Will You Learn?

Directed Reading

What Will You Learn?

In this course the student and faculty select the books on a specific topic which the student then reads and completes the assignments required for the course.

The course can take anywhere between two months to one year to complete depending on how often the student chooses to complete their reading.

Español (English/Spanish)

What Will You Learn?

These courses are designed to deliver parallel dual language instruction to students whose primary language is Spanish. Students view their courses in English and Spanish side-by-side.

All the assignments and exams are in English, however, the lessons are presented in both English/Spanish side by sided

Bilingual Faculty and Staff are available to provide language, academic, and administration assistance.

Independent Study

What Will You Learn?

In an Independent Study Course the student and the teacher agree upon a topic for the student to research with guidance from the teacher for an agreed upon outcome, time period and number of credits.

The course allows the student to explore their interest and earn 1 academic credit. Students can pursue independent study over multiple years in the same subject or in multiple subjects.

Types of learning include: Directed Reading, Directed Study, Project Based, and Activity Based in any special topic of choice by the student and teacher.

Foreign Languages

What Will You Learn?

CHS uses Duolingo learning platform as your classroom. Lessons focus on real-life-goals. Developing vocabulary, grammar, and real world language practice.

In addition to lessons, learners can access Tips for explanations on grammar, pronunciation, and helpful phrases.

Interaction, conversations and reading and listening comprehension.

Biblical Studies

What Will You Learn?

Course offers biblical history, themes and context of Biblical text. Students select books or specific topics to build out their tailored lesson plans.

Each directed reading activity give the student a variety of options from writing assignments, producing a video, or creating a podcast to demonstrate their knowledge.

Course length can be anywhere between two months to one year to complete depending on the student’s desire pace.

Civics and Social Justice Academy

What Will You Learn?

The Civics Program expands the traditional view of civic education to the broader concept of “civic learning area”; Civic Knowledge, Civic Skills, Civic Disposition and Call to Action.

Civic Knowledge, classroom taught: US Government, History of Constitution, Bill of Rights and others

Civic Skills. Public speaking, Critical Thinking, How to Understand Arguments, Tolerance as a Basic American Value and others.

Dual Credit

Earn High School and College Credit

Focus on what you want to learn in college by completing General Education courses in high school. Credits transfer to your local high school and will transfer to your future college

Students can take up to two dual credit courses at a time . Courses generally take 16 weeks to complete.

What Will You Learn?

Whether you are a teen mom, teen dad, or young couple, Citizens High School believes you deserve the advantages that come with having a fully accredited high school diploma.

Our Young Parents curriculum allows you to earn high school credit for the real-life learning that comes with raising children.

Courses like Cooking, Directed Reading in Parenting & Child Development, Parenting & Child Development Practicum, and Life Skills all offer ways to keep your graduation on track with innovative, flexible coursework. Complete your work any hour of the day, and some are as simple as posting on social media sites.

African-American Studies

What Will You Learn?

Students examine the experiences, history, and culture of people of African descent in North America. Students work with their teacher to choose and develop the tailored syllabus.

Course design allows students to propose readings and selected study or activity in any area of African American history or culture.

Study at your own pace on your own terms, courses are flexible and designed to be completed within a period of one month or up to a year, it’s your choice.
