Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and Section 504 for CHS Students.
If a currently enrolled student has a disability or impairment, they can request accommodations. Students/Parents are responsible for requesting accommodations and for providing CHS a copy of the student’s most current Individual Educational Plan (IEP) or Section 504 Plan. These documents should be submitted directly to CHS by uploading a copy into genius, by emailing a copy to studentservices@citizenshighschool.com, or by filling out the accommodation request formon the website. Prospective students can email their IEP or 504 plans to admissions@citizenshighschool.com prior to enrollment to determine possible accommodations. Once the IEP or 504 has been reviewed by the academic team, then an accommodation letter will be generated uploaded to genius, and then sent to the student.
Please note that Citizens High School does not provide any modified curriculum and assessment options for students with intellectual disabilities or significant cognitive disabilities. CHS faculty are unable to make changes to courses or alter the course format to provide such modifications. Placing a student in a lower grade level online course is not a viable option for students in need of modified curriculum and assessment options. All students at CHS have access to many accommodations that naturally occur in the virtual setting. CHS may also be able to provide additional accommodations per a student’s IEP or 504 Plan if the accommodation(s) is/are applicable to the online educational environment. Please note that some accommodations may not be possible to implement in the online educational setting.
