Building upon the prior prerequisite course, this course presents a variety of subjects that allow the student to become more familiar with the universe. Students will explore the solar system, the sun, comets, asteroids, and meteors as well as become familiar with the concepts of space travel and settlements. Students will also examine the life cycle of stars and the properties of planets.

Building on the prior prerequisite course, expand your knowledge in the field of biotechnology. Explore the discovery of antibiotics and the concerns of antibiotic resistance while also examining the agricultural, pharmaceutical, ad genetic applications of biotechnology. Finally, learn about the future of biotechnology to understand the depth and breadth of this field.

What if you could do the impossible? Engineers understand a lot of things, but the word impossible definitely isn’t one of them. Through Concepts of Engineering and Technology, you’ll learn how the momentum of science is continually propelling engineers in new directions towards a future full of insight and opportunity. This course explores the different branches of engineering and how problem-solving, sketching, collaboration, and experimentation can change the very fiber of our human lives. This course will introduce students to the study of astronomy, including its history and development, basic scientific laws of motion and gravity, the concepts of modern astronomy, and the methods used by astronomers to learn more about the universe. Additional topics include the origin of the universe, the Milky Way, and other galaxies and stars.

Did you know that the field of biotechnology encompasses everything from plant and animal breeding to genetics? Discover how biotechnology has changed the world around us from food to genetics. Build on historical applications with modern discoveries. Understand how regulations and ethics govern the course of biotechnology and learn of its importance to the field of medicine. Increase your understanding of this cutting-edge field

In this chemistry course, students will explore some of the fundamental principles of chemistry relating to the properties of matter and how it behaves.  Some of the topics covered are measurement, atomic structure, electron configuration, the periodic table, bonding, gas laws, solutions, stoichiometry, chemical reactions, equilibrium, acids and bases, and an introduction to organic chemistry.

Fingerprints. Blood spatter. DNA analysis. The world of law enforcement is increasingly making use of the techniques and knowledge from the sciences to better understand the crimes that are committed and to catch those individuals responsible for the crimes. Forensic science applies scientific knowledge to the criminal justice system. This course focuses on some of the techniques and practices used by forensic scientists during a crime scene investigation (CSI). Starting with how clues and data are recorded and preserved, the student will follow evidence trails until the CSI goes to trial, examining how various elements of the crime scene are analyzed and processed.

Have you ever wondered about the secrets of the deep, and how the creatures below the ocean’s surface live and thrive? It is truly a new frontier of discovery, and in Marine Science, you will begin to understand a great deal more about the aquatic cycles, structures, and processes that generate and sustain life in the sea. Through the use of scientific inquiry, research, measurement, and problem solving, you will conduct various scientific procedures that will lead to an increased level of knowledge about Marine Science. You will also have the opportunity to use technology and laboratory instruments in an academic setting. By recognizing the inherent ethics and safety procedures necessary in advanced experiments, you will become progressively more confident in your abilities as a capable marine scientist.

Whether you want to step into the wild side of veterinary medicine or just take care of the furry dogs and cats down your street, Veterinary Science: The Care of Animals will show you how to care for domestic, farm, and wild animals and diagnose their common diseases and ailments. Learn how different veterinary treatments are used and developed to improve the lives of animals and, as a result, the lives of those people who treasure them. No, you can just take individual courses and then transfer those credits that you have earned to your local school or add them to your homeschool portfolio.

Citizens High School IT courses help prepare students to take one or more IT certification exams, while passing the course does not guarantee earning the certification, CHS believes so strongly this course will prepare you for the exam if you do not pass you can retake the prep course for no charge.

This depends on which certificate you are looking to earn Microsoft, Adobe, Google, etc…all offer certification exams.

This cost of a certification exam depends on the company and the exam.  Microsoft exams costs $165, Adobe is $180, and Google can range between $10 to $200 depending on the exam.  Considering the benefit these certifications can have in your career it is a small investment that can pay large dividends later.  Additionally, your employer may pay for your exam depending on your current career.

Students can email their teachers through the course. Also, many teachers have contact hours where you can call or text your teacher.
